CURRICULUM VITAE


Jan/Feb 1994:

First visit to Cambodia during research for my final project from the Aarhus School of Architecture: ”Optimising Mine Clearance in Cambodia”. Contact to various mine clearance organisations. Video documentation of mine clearance.

Spring -95:

Three months follow-up on mine clearance research etc. Travels through the country and further contacts to various organisations: Caritas Cambodia, Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC), The Halo Trust, Mines Advisory Group (MAG), Norwegian Peoples Aid (NPA), COFRAS.

Autumn -95 to spring -97:

Implementation of project ”Low Tech Mine Demolition in Cambodia” funded by Danida through the Royal Danish Embassy in Bangkok. Local administrator: Caritas Cambodia. In cooperation with: CMAC, the Halo Trust, MAG. Product development of the ”MineBuster” mine demolition device based on my concept and design. Creation of my own organisation: ”Danish Demining & Development Associates / 3D”.

Summer -97:

Cancellation of the project due to civil war. Departure from Cambodia.

From -98 onwards:

Frequent visits of long and short duration to the country. Observing the national elections in -98, consultant to the Ministries of Tourism, Environment. Contacts to various Cambodian organsiations (NGO’s): CARE Cambodia, Cambodian Medical Services and Support Organization (CMSSO) Ratanakiri. Photo projects and articles for ”Explore Cambodia – The Official Guide to Cambodia by the Ministry of Tourism”, and others.

1999 – 2000:

Tourism programme for Cambodia in cooperation with Strobel Travel, Aarhus.  Lectures on Cambodia arranged by Liberalt Oplysningsforbund (LOF), Aarhus.

2000–01:

Cooperation with the Organisation for Renewable Energy (ORE), Aarhus. Research for a project regarding urban squatter communities in Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville. Contacts to local NGO’s: Urban Poor Development Fund (UPDF), Urban Ressource Centre (URC), Urban Sector Group (USG), Solidarity for the Urban Poor Federation (SUPF), Community Sanitation And Recycling Organisation (CSARO), and others: UNCHS (United Nations Cooperation for Homeless Settlements) , City Council of Phnom Penh.

Contact to The Union of Commercial and Clerical Employees in Denmark (HK International), Aarhus. Preliminary studies for projects and project cooperation with: Cambodian Labour Organisation (CLO), KHEMARA, CCAWDU.

2001–02:

Cooperation with Danish International Human Settlement Service, Aarhus. Production of the film ”Anger of the Spirits” about the hill tribes of Cambodia with the Danish Film Institute, Dfi/Videoworkshop Haderslev and Aarhus Film Workshop. Six months recordings on location in Ratanakiri province in cooperation with local NGO’s: The Non Timber Forest Products Project (NTFP), CARE Cambodia and CMSSO. The film focuses on the Tampuan tribe around the Yeak Laom Lake in Ratanakiri and its attempt to cope with issues such as landgrabbing, logging and globalisation.

2002-03:

research and recordings in north-western Cambodia for the "Voices of Khmer Rouge" art video installation in cooperation with Danish video artist Jan Krogsgård. Supported by the DDV/Video Workshop in Haderslev and Danish National Television.
Sponsored by the Danish Metal labour union.

July 12, 2003:
married to Channa Ly, Cambodia at Århus City Hall.



 

September 2003:
participation in the national Images of Asia festival. Hosting Chiv Try, Cambodian high school teacher and lecturing with him at Danish schools.
Cooperation with O3V, Danish organisation for information about third world
countries.

September 8, 2003:
"Anger of the Spirits" shown during the Images of Asia festival at the Århus cinema East of Eden.

October 2003:
workshop activities for "Operation Dagsværk", a Danish humanitarian high school project supporting literacy for Cambodian girls, including lectures on
"Voices of Khmer Rouge".

2003-04, ongoing and planned activities:

- research for The Union of Commercial and Clerical Employees in Denmark, International Committee regarding training and organising of women textile
workers in Cambodia.
- facilitating media documentation centre for indigenous people in
Ratanakiri province in cooperation with
local organisations.
- organising group tours from Denmark to Cambodia in cooperation with
Cambodian and Danish tour operators.
- editing, translating and subtitling "Voices of Khmer Rouge" in Phnom Penh
in cooperation with the local organisation Fit Media. Cooperation with NATfilmfestivalen / cph:dox in Copenhagen. Supported by Århus Filmværksted and DDV/Video Workshop in Haderslev. Sponsored by CKU/DCCD, Danish Metal, FAF, Politiken-fonden, Danske Filminstruktører.
