In the early stages of establishing the International School of Siem Reap (ISSR), I took an active interest in its development because Amanda had just started there at the age of four. So when the school approached me regarding a playground for the children I was happy to take on this commission. I decided to design all the various components in local hardwood painted in bright primary colors. Among the parent group there were requests for a see-saw as well as climbing robes and stepping stones, so I incorporated all of these inside a sand filled area surrounded by a fence. It was done in the hottest part of the dry season in April and May 2009 and I did most of the work myself. A lot of sweat but the playground still stands and is in daily use.
